North Korea announces test of newly developed missile

North Korea announced Wednesday that it was testing a newly developed missile designed to launch from a submarine, the first weapons test in two years.

Tuesday's test was the fifth missile launch since September and came as North Korea stepped up pressure on Washington and Seoul to abandon what Pyongyang considers hostile policies such as drills. US-South Korean military and international sanctions on North Korea.

The latest test will make a significant contribution to the deployment of defense technology at a high level and to strengthen our navy's underwater operations, the state-run Korean Central News Agency said.
